This is a BIG weekend in St. Paul! 

Saturday and Sunday is the Flint Hills Childrens Festival in Rice Park.  It’s a great event to take your kids or grandkids to.  The park is filled with crafts, performers, activities, a butterfly garden, and so much more.  Check out http://www.ordway.org/festival/weekend/ for more information.

Saturday is also the day that music starts at the St. Paul Farmers Market on 5th and Wall Street in Downtown.  Be sure to stop down there!  I can’t even describe how it feels to walk through the market, shopping among neighbors for great produce grown by local farmers, all while listening to live music.  It’s really wonderful.  At this time of year, you should find all of the year round favorites (bakery, eggs, meat, honey, syrup) as well as fresh asparagus, radishes, rhubarb, spinach, and flowers. 

Sunday is (what I believe to be) the official beginning of summer – Grand Old Day!  Grand Avenue turns into a parade route lined with vendors, neighbors, great food, bands, and fun!  This year the parade has a 70’s theme.  The parade starts at 10 AM, so be sure to get there early to reserve a good spot along the avenue.  For more information go to http://grandave.com/grandoldday/
