The Saint Paul Blog

Spring has officially sprung!  We can finally leave our coats at home and get out and explore!  Below are a few great activities to enjoy this May:

May 9 – The Farmers Market is officially open for the season!  Although there are several locations throughout the city open on different days, I prefer going to the Downtown location, which is open Saturday and Sunday from 6 AM to 1 PM.  Today, you will have the opportunity to talk to a master gardener about lawn care.  What’s in season this time of year at the Farmers Market you ask?  You’ll find asparagus, green onions, radishes, rhubarb, spinach, and other non-veggie items such as eggs, meat, honey, plants, etc.  For more information, visit www.StPaulFarmersMarket.com

May 10 – Mothers day!  Although you’ll have to figure this one out on your own, I’ll offer a few suggestions.  Check out the Conservatory at Como Park, have brunch at the St. Paul Hotel, pick out a few plants at the Farmers Market and plant them in moms yard, or go for a stroll through your favorite neighborhood.  Enjoy the day!!

May 23-24 – Check out “Minnesota’s Greatest Generation” at the Minnesota History Museum.  There are a lot of activities planned.  This is a great way to gear up for Memorial Day!  For more information, visit the History Museums website

May 25 – This Memorial Day, take a walk around the Capitol mall and check out the war memorials.  There have been some additions recently, so if you haven’t been out there, check it out!  Bring a picnic and enjoy the wonderful green capitol mall too.

May 26-31 – Flint Hills Children’s Festival graces St. Paul!!  This is one of my favorite festivals of the year.    It features walking artists, art making, ART moves parade, a butterfly garden, plus countless performances.  Check out their website for a performance schedule :  http://www.ordway.org/festival/
