Autumn is officially here!  Before it gets cold, take a day to do some maintenance around the house.  Here's a checklist:

• Clean your gutters and drain pipes so leave won't clog them
• Turn off and drain your exterior faucets
• Have your chimney swept and inspected
• Change your funace filter (your should be doing this every month!)
• Check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
• Take down screens and replace with storm windows
• Wash windows one last time before it freezes
• Inspect the exterior of your house.  Look at the caulk around the doors and to make sure it's in good condition, check for holes or openings in your siding.  Repair if necessary.  If your have chipping paint, now is a good time to repaint.
• Have a professional come out and inspect your furnace and clean ducts
• Fertilize and reseed your lawn so your green grass is the envy of the neighborhood in the Spring
